Things that have emerged (June 2023)
---One of the graduate work
Our studio/classroom have moved to the Wilson Road campus during the preparation period for this summer's show. This work (if I may call it such) is an actual studio left over from that time.
A certain sensibility of the poor and the banal, and the poetics and creativity that spring from them, have served as my aesthetic; they have worked as a principle or spice in my work.
They have a kind of paradoxical transparency and purity, a slightly painful innocence and a unique tension, as if they were just born or on the edge of becoming something, and their banality ultimately evokes a kind of timelessness. I suppose I wanted to share the purity of the moving experience of creating and viewing images and objects that appear in such a delicate balance.
